Wednesday 28 March 2018: Welcome to a new season of Wynberg Boys’ High School rugby - our teams have had a tough and testing pre-season in advance of the annual league fixtures which kick off formally on 14 April when we travel to Rondebosch in the annual season-starter derby.
Training and trials for all age groups during the last fortnight, combined with hours of discussion between our coaches, mean our teams should be finalised by the end of this first term, and set for the short practice week after the holidays.
We held a successful set of pre-season fixtures against Brackenfell on Tuesday 20 March, with our U14A, 15A, 16A and 1st XV teams traveling together, building spirit and mutual support, and recording victories across the board.
Our 19C team played Bergvliet High School 1st XV on Thursday afternoon winning comprehensively in a physical battle on our Silverhurst C Field, while our U14A and B, 15A, and 16A teams wrapped up their week by traveling to Paarl to play against Boland Landbou in an exciting set of friendly matches that augur well for the months ahead. We're pleased, but not complacent, with the results achieved by these young sides: three of the four games went Wynberg's way, with the U14A going down by 10 points to the hosts.
