Wednesday 4 September 2019: As Wynberg men, we must do better. We mourn with our fellow South Africans through this time of grief and sorrow. The gruesome news of the brutal abuse and murder of Janika Mellow, a learner at Northwood Primary in Mitchell’s Plain, a fellow school within our Circuit, has caused a groundswell of outrage and protest. A group of senior boys and staff attended Janika’s Memorial Service this morning in solidarity with her family and friends, while the Wynberg Girls’ & Boys’ High Schools have called for all students and staff to wear black on Thursday 5 September and donate as much as can be afforded toward a fund to support Janika’s family.

Grade 10 and 11 students from Wynberg Boys’ High will picket in silent protest against gender abuse outside Wynberg Girls’ High, Springfield, and Herschel from  07h00 until  08h00 on Thursday, before the four Wynberg Campus Schools hold a joint assembly to unite in single purpose to raise awareness, and commit to #ItStartsWithMe

The Wynberg School community abhors the current horrific levels of gender-based violence, and we encourage all to be part of any action that speaks out against this.

On Saturday 10 March 2018 Wynberg hosted the first ever WOW - Women of Wynberg - event at Kaplan House to honour our women in a morning of connecting, upliftment, and celebration.

Rounding off a week in which WBHS marked International Women’s Day with powerful and thought-provoking workshops with the boys on respecting women and their valuable contribution to society, the WOW morning was attended by 250 Wynberg mothers, teachers, and other influential women, in an exuberant celebration of our Women of Worth.

An inspirational address by Wynberg mom, Portia van Staden, honoured the guests and reminded them of their inner strengths, their beauty, and capabilities.

Portia, with the aid of a R50 note dropped, crumpled, trodden on and ground into the dirt, demonstrated the fundamental fact: the note did not lose its value, it retained its full worth:

Crew For A Cause: Wynberg Old Boys' Scholarship Initiative

Monday 19 February 2018: Wynberg Boys' High School applauds and supports the groundswell efforts of our Old Wynbergians in actively 'paying forward' the benefits and opportunities experienced at their Alma Mater. Read the story of 'Crew for a Cause', and help us to support them in opening our opportunities to prospective, deserving, Wynberg Men:

At the end of 2017, a few Wynberg Old Boys from the years 2003 and 2004 got together and launched a Non-profit Company called “Crew for a Cause” with the intention of making a difference in someone's life, and do our part to change the future for the better!

The company was set up with the idealism of “through education, we can create employment”, and with this creating as many jobs as possible, to provide self-respect, to feed families, and take a child off the street.

The criteria were clear from the start to enable a previously disadvantaged child the opportunity to go through a school like Wynberg, where we have all learnt so much. And through these criteria, we found an incredible candidate in need, and one who we believe will give back to the school and country in the future.
