Friday 9 November 2018: Fourth term sport has wrapped up: our cricketers continued the fine form shown against Bishops by winning the lion’s share of matches in the final derby against SACS, with some notable performances:
1st XI: T Ntini 3/13 and Z Noor 4/23. R Carr 542nd XI: Lawrence 105*(127), Van Schalkwyk 91(123), a 196 run partnership. Schultz 4/38 (10)4th XI: D Hendriks 56 U15A: Prodehl 4/30 (10) U14A: won a thrilling match by one wicket courtesy of a SACS overthrow. This should not detract however from lower order heroics by Cullan Larkin who scored 22 not out coming in at number 11. A last wicket partnership of 51 by Larkin and Van Reenen secured a Wynberg win. L Harmse 4/57 (9.2). Z van Reenen 62*U14A vs WP U13: L Metu 46 and J James 45. M Bing 2/33 and C Larkin 2/45.U14B: L Meyer 4 wickets for 16 runs.U14C: ended the year unbeaten under the captaincy of Ryan Nell.U14D: C Broad smith 57* Wynberg Staff vs SACS: Thursday 8 November saw our Wynberg Staff failing to ram home the advantage against their SACS counterparts. After Adolf Groenewald, Andrew Wylie, and Pietie Loubser helped post 160 in 20 overs, some desperate bowling and fielding saw Wynberg relinquish the advantage for SACS to tie the match off the last ball.
All Wynberg Cricket results on our website Tennis: The 6ths and 8ths won all their matches against SACS and Muizenberg respectively, with the 4ths and 5ths serving up convincing wins over Rondebosch and Herzlia. On Saturday 6 players from the 2nd and 3rd team played in a mixed doubles tournament with Herschel, Bishops, Rustenburg, SACS and St Cyprians. Wynberg drew St Cyprians as a mixed partner, winning 4 of the matches played.
Cycling: Justin Chesterton earned his Provincial colours for both Mountain biking and Road racing in 2018.

Friday 2 March 2018, Wynberg Boys' High School: The mornings are slightly cooler and the financial year has come to end, a signal that we have reached the last fortnight of summer sport. With tours and derby matches wrapping up the first term 2018, one can anticipate the season going out with a bang.
The Wynberg supporters caps have arrived. Only online orders through Moodle were recorded, caps may be collected from the Student Support Desk on submission of proof of payment.
The rugby department is sourcing an affordable and efficient practice jersey. An online order form will be published to Moodle soon - while the jerseys will be available this year, they will only become compulsory kit from 2019.
Our boys competed against top athletes from Southern Zone schools in the zonal semi-final event held in Bellville. After a long day of competition, 16 of our athletes made it through to next round to form part of the Southern Zone team to take on teams from the Northern, Table Bay, and False Bay Zones for a place in the Western Province athletics team on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 March at the Vygieskraal track. The Western Province team will compete at the Western Cape Championships in Paarl on the weekend of 9 March.
We wish them all the very best:

Friday 9 February 2018, Wynberg Boys’ High School: With the Western Cape in the throes of the worst drought in living memory, it is understandable that some of our sporting fixtures have been negatively affected.
The past fortnight has seen fixtures cancelled, rearranged, and in some cases, match formats have been changed to reduce playing time. Our teams are informed during the course of their school day of any changes, and we expect our students to communicate these with their parents directly in respect of transport, match support, and kit requirements. We thank you for your understanding.
A joint statement written by the Boys’ High Schools has been published and outlines our reasons for continuing with our sporting programme – albeit a curtailed one.
The drought plan for sport for the rest of the term is as follows:
Tuesday 6 February 2018: at a recent meeting at Wynberg Boys' High School between the Headmasters of Wynberg, Bishops, SACS, and Rondebosch, a joint position on a measured and constrained school sports programme was undertaken.:

Friday 3 November 2017: With the year-end exams around the corner, this weekend heralds the end of most Term 4 sporting fixtures. Only cricket continues for one week beyond SACS with the Stayers playing matches vs Paarl Boys’ on 11 November.
While your sons will be hitting the books with vengeance next week, it would be good to see them utilising our sporting facilities as and when they feel the need to take a study break. The nets, courts, and fields are not going anywhere while organised sport takes a break.

Wynberg recorded some very good wins against Bishops on the weekend. The highlights of the week would be Tristan Perez explosive 160 against Bishops U15A and Cameron Tanner scoring his 2nd 100 of the week against Bishops 2nd XI. Kieron Adams u14A (70*) helped the U14’s to a comprehensive 7 wicket win while Imti Samaai’s off-spin (4/35) enabled the 2nd team to beat Bishops by 80 runs. The 1st squad will be looking to bounce back after consecutive losses when they play hosts to SACS this weekend, with many Matric boys playing their last WBHS fixtures along with 1st team coach Eric Lefson’s final match at the helm after a remarkable contribution to the game at Wynberg Boys’ High School over 18 years
Kyle Pluke was awarded his 100th cap last week against Bishops and Umar Anthony stands in line to receive his 100th cap this week against SACS.
