Wynberg Boys' High School Lorie House
Insignia & History of Lorie House

Lorie is one of three additional Houses created in 2003 by then Headmaster, Mr Keith Richardson, to facilitate the pastoral and administrative management of the school.

Each House has four Tutors in addition to the House Head, who are each responsible for the pastoral care of approximately 25 boys from Grades 8-10. The House is named after Mr Arnold Lorie, who was the first Headmaster of Wynberg Boys’ Junior School. Mr Lorie was an accomplished musician, and musical insignia were considered for the badge, but in the end, the Eagle had the most popular appeal.

Our vision is four-fold:

  • To maintain the distinction of being the best House for Service in the school.
  • To continue the recent push to rise up the ranks from the lower half of the field in the chase for the Friedlander Shield. The potential of every boy must be tapped for this purpose.
  • To work doubly hard to overcome our weaknesses.
  • To encourage pride in the House and a sense of belonging.

Our goals are:

  • Top Service House.
  • Top three in the Friedlander Shield.
  • No more  than 10% of Lorie boys on the at risk list.
  • Top three in discipline.
