Wynberg Boys’ High School History Department warmly welcomed visiting school teams to our Clegg Hall on Wednesday 5 August for our second annual History Quiz. Defending champions Westerford (accompanied by their History Master, Wynberg Old Boy Simon Hutton-Squire) took top honours again with an 82% aggregate on a question list compiled by Wynberg’s legendary Quiz Master, Eric Lefson.
Our thanks to Wynberg’s Ladies’ Association for providing a warm, nourishing evening with plenty of ‘brain food’ on the tables, to Mr Rodney Inglis for his strolling ‘Mastering of Ceremonies’, Messrs Shaun Hewett (Head of Wynberg History), Peter van Schalkwyk (Director of Wynberg Operations), Ben Thompson (Director of Wynberg Academics) and Ms Jeanette Muller (Wynberg Marketing Manager) for their hands-on support for the event.
Special thanks to our Men of Littlewood Boarding House for their presence as ushers and table support for Mr Lefson, and to Wynberg’s Tech, Sound & Lighting Team.
But without the support of our friends and rivals from other schools, the evening could not have been the success it was: Wynberg Girls’ High, Rondebosch Boys’ High, Westerford, Herzlia, Bergvliet High, St Cyprians, Darun-Na’im Girls’ High,  Bloubergrant High School and Rylands High – thank you for your enthusiastic participation!
Top Three Positions:
1. Â Westerford High School
2. Wynberg Boys’ High School – Grade 12 Team
[Ed: Mr Shaun Hewett has asked us to publish the following: “It is of value to record that the combined Inter-Schools’ Staff Team of History Teachers (for fun, not competing) had the top score of the night. Education remains in safe hands.”]
