U14A at the Hilton Festival

The U14A cricket side had were unbeaten at the Hilton Festival, as were the Stayers’ XI at the Oakhill Festival in Knysna. The U15A and 1st XI sides lost 2 and won 2 at the Affies Festival in Pretoria and at Cape Schools’ Week in Port Elizabeth respectively.

The 1st Water Polo team struggled at the SACS tournament, but learned a lot and played some good polo.

Wynberg’s U19A soccer team ended 11th/20 at the prestigious Nedbank Challenge in Bloemfontein. We are proud of Luca Alexander and Lutho Mlunguza’s selection for the composite tournament team to compete in Juventus, Italy in April 2018. Soccer MIC, Roland Rudd, has been appointed manager of the side. Congratulations to them all.

On their return from tours, the Stayers’ and 1st XI secured good victories over Tauranga from New Zealand, and Bishops respectively. The Bishops match was scheduled to be a two day match, but due to dominance by Wynberg, the match was completed by 10:30 on Day 2. The U14A side beat a strong Clifton team from KZN in a 30 over match on Wednesday. Clifton beat Bishops and SACS en route to our Jacques Kallis Oval.

This weekend sees a mixed bag of cricket fixtures against various opponents, with the flagship A team matches all vs Stellenberg at home. Water Polo take on Reddam and Westerford at home, our sports supporters will be hard pressed to find parking on campus as the Highland Gathering contingents arrive to battle it out on the Hawthornden.
