Thirteen boys left Wynberg on Friday 22 September in a beautiful little bus, courtesy of Mekor Ford Claremont, to join up with the Service Group from Hermanus High School.

On our arrival, we were entertained to a marvelous braai before our boys went off with their host families for the night.

We regrouped again early on Saturday morning before setting off on the Hemel en Aarde Road to Camphill School for children with special needs.

On our arrival, we were met and welcomed by Ms Genevieve Kinney, who set the group to work cleaning and painting the kindergarten section of the school.

The entire morning and part of the afternoon were spent repainting walls and murals and refurbishing the jungle gym and general play area.

A really wonderful time was had by all and we eventually said our goodbyes at about 14h30.

Thank you to Miralese Wiegman and the Hermanus gang for affording us the opportunity to collaborate with them on such a wonderfully rewarding project; Genevieve for being a fantastic host; Mekor Ford for generously providing transport; the Robbertze family for taking beautiful pics and providing moral support, and last but not least, Ms Cara Cato for always being willing to assist and for providing extra lifts.

I am certain that our boys are already preparing themselves to reciprocate next year.

Mr Rodney Inglis, WBHS Vice-Principal – Service
