Wynberg Congratulates our U16 & U18 WP Hockey Representatives

Wynberg Boys' High School Western Province U16 & 18 Hockey Reps 2017

Wynberg Boys’ High School Western Province U16 & 18 Hockey Reps 2017

Wednesday 31 May 2017: Wynberg Boys’ High School was privileged to welcome WP Schools’ Hockey to our Nausbaum Auditorium for the Capping Ceremony of the U16 and U18 A & B teams to represent Western Province at the Inter-Provincial Tournaments in the July Holidays.

Well done to the boys selected, and particular congratulations to the fourteen Wynberg Hockey players for achieving Provincial Colours in 2017. A remarkable achievement that credits their commitment to their school teams, the work of our Wynberg coaches, and the support of our Wynberg Hockey Families.

Change of Venue for the U16 IPT 2017
Wynberg salutes WP Schools’ Hockey in their tough decision to forego the opportunity to host the U16 IPT to avoid the additional drain on the Western Cape’s scarce water resources by bringing hundreds of players and accompanying coaches, managers, supporters, and families, to Cape Town in July. Thanks must be given to Pretoria Boys’ High for stepping in at the eleventh hour and to the families of the WP players who’ll bear the unexpected cost of an away tour this year.

Wynberg Old Boys on Tour with the U18s
We congratulate Devin Stanton (Matric 2004) and Mouton Joubert (Matric 2012) on their appointments as the WP U18 A & B coaches respectively. Both ‘veterans’ of provincial schoolboy hockey, Wynberg is proud of their continued commitment to the sport, and our Schools’ hockey culture. Good luck gentlemen!

We wish the four WP sides the very best in their preparation, and all success in the IPTs.
