Wynberg 175 Launch Week: Boutique Concert, Wednesday 3 February 2016

Wednesday saw a thrilling collaborative musical effort take place between both the Wynberg Boy’s High and Junior Schools. First in a series of boutique music concerts scheduled for 2016, the evening, hosted by the welcoming Junior School campus, featured both old boys and current students alike in a spectacle of keenly crafted individual and group performances.

The event, in the Boys’ Junior School’s Arnold Lorie Hall, began with the delighted crowd of parents, teachers, students and invited guests being treated to a fresh and energetic display by the Junior School Concert Band, led by director Justin Wardle.

Three phenomenal soloists then took to the floor, as Shaun Moir (Tuba), Kevin Kim (Piano) and Richard Moir (Bassoon) – some of Wynberg’s finest old boy musicians – showcased the long legacy of musical talent that has walked through these halls over the years.

Next on the program was a masterfully polished performance from the High School Concert Band, led by director Peter Catzavelos.

The evening concluded with yet another four exceptional old boy performers in Che Charles (Clarinet), Micaiah Christopher (Clarinet), Nicholas Haralambous (Piano) and Joshua Louis (Violin), after which a combined Junior and High School Concert Band concluded the night on a tone of fun and brotherhood between the two great schools.

Special mention must be given to the stellar accompanist Ms. Sandra Kettle-Loubser who joined the six soloists in dazzling all those present.
