Grade 9 and 11 will be leaving on their annual camps next week. These camps are an essential part of the life of Wynberg as they promote self-reliance, camaraderie and team spirit. They give impetus to the words of the school song: Brothers in an Endless Chain.

We wish all the boys in these Grades memorable camps and hope that it strengthens the bonds between them.

Grades 8 and 10 will be doing various service activities thus fulfilling one of the mantras of Wynberg: Service is the rent we pay for privilege.

On Thursday 2nd October, the Grade 8’s have the opportunity to show off their school to their Grandparents while the Grade 10 and 11’s will be doing the activities of L.O. day.

Except for matrics who receive their final school reports at the beginning of next term, reports for the remaining grades will be available on Friday morning and handed out in tutor groups. As a number of sports tours will already have left, parents of players may collect their sons’ reports directly from the front office.

Matric parents have received Circular 53 which details all the arrangements for the next few weeks – including all the holiday academic seminars being arranged for the boys.

On Monday, the Geography boys took off to Paarl to gain first-hand experience of the granite extrusion more commonly known as Paarl Rock. After being given a brief tour and talk by our tour guide (which included an information session about the Afrikaans Taal Monument) we followed the contour path that leads to Paarl Rock. Along this route boys were afforded a view of the scree which results from the exfoliation of the extrusion as well as being able to summit the exposed batholith. Upon their return, boys hungrily tucked into their lunches in the picnic area and met many tourists many of whom commented on their neat attire and good manners.
