Next year we are planning a school raffle and are in the process of sourcing high value item prizes. Should any parents have contacts for prizes they are willing to donate, please contact Jeanette Muller (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Any boy, who currently occupies a locker, may now renew his locker for 2013. Learners who wish to renew their locker for 2013 should pay Mrs Lourens on or before Wednesday 5 December 2012.
Small Locker R150
Large Locker R200
ALL lockers that have been used this year must be cleared by no later than Tuesday 4 December 2012 so that they can be cleaned for use next year. Lockers which have not been cleared will have the lock removed and the contents donated to charity.
Unfortunately, there are not enough lockers for every learner. Any boy who did NOT occupy a locker in 2012, but would like to do so in 2013, should see
Mrs Lourens to have their name placed on a waiting list.
Sport has basically stopped for the year and therefore very little was played in the last week. Our 1st XI did play against Bellville in the quarter-finals of the T20 Coca-Cola KO Cup on Saturday. We won easily which means that we play in the semifinal against WPCC early next year.
Our staff team also played a T20 cricket match against the SACS staff on Thursday afternoon. There were some great performances by some of the younger teachers and some stiff bodies among the older teachers. But we did manage to win the game.
A further highlight this week was that David Bedingham was announced as the WP U18 captain. This will be the seventh Wynberg boy to captain the WP team in the last 12 years.
On Friday 30 November we will be hosting all next year’s grade 8s for an afternoon of sport. As in previous years, we will be running a net session for all the cricketers, a fun afternoon of tennis for all the tennis players, but we will also be introducing them to Basketball and Waterpolo which many of them will not have played before.
The boys can choose which sport they attend and can also move from one to the other. It is an opportunity for us to introduce the new boys to Wynberg sport and to have a look at the available talent which will be at Wynberg next year.
Our annual Campus of Schools’ Carol Service takes place on Sunday 2nd December at St Johns Anglican church in Wynberg, starting at 17h30. The choirs from all four schools have been working hard to ensure wonderful coral items. Get there early to ensure that you get a seat as this is a very popular occasion.
‘Sport has taught me about life. I believe that in life you should be ticking off boxes. If you are not making a difference, then you have to put a cross against that area of your life and move on.’
