Walkway of Names

Wynberg Boys' High School 175 Walkway of Names

The first steps of construction have begun on this Walkway from the Memorial Gate to the top of the spectator’s embankment. View the progress on Facebook: Wynberg 175
On each side of the path will be granite plaques engraved with the names of Wynberg Men and their families who would like to be a part of the school’s living memory. The pathway passes under shady trees passed benches with a grand view of the Saturday games and False Bay in the distance. The first plaques have been ordered already and their installation will start along the Walkway in January 2016. View the slide show on this link for examples of what your wording could be. Old Boys and families are welcome to select any wording for us to help with the design.

Each plaque is the size of an A5 page and the sandblasted words are white against the black granite stone. The cost is R4000 per plaque and the proceeds go towards fundraising for the school.

Wine from the School’s vineyard

Oude Wijnberg Shiraz – 2013 Vintage – from the school’s private vineyard, planted in 2010

Wynberg Old Boys' Union: Oude Wijnberg ShirazDescription

The Shiraz was made by Wynberg Old Boy, Stuart Botha, of Eagles Nest Constantia and it has received very good reviews from award-winning critic, Cathy Marston.  This has been an amazing collaboration of Wynberg Old Boys who are in viticulture and design.

The Wynberg Old Boys’ Union are selling the Standard Bottles (750ml) for R250 each, and the Double Magnums (3 litre) are R3000 each.

Double Magnums

The limited edition Double Magnums are numbered and encased in a wooden presentation box which also contain a replica 175 Flag, an information booklet about the vineyard and a personalised certificate. The wording on the certificate is up to the purchaser and it indicates the name of the person for whom the wine has been purchased and his year of matriculation.
