Sunday 15 October 2017: Wynberg staged another wonderful Sunset Concert notwithstanding the whimsy of the weather prompting us to retreat to the shelter of the hall, rather than brave the uncertain elements.

With picturesque photos of sunset flanking the stage, the audience was treated to the best of Wynberg’s bands. Under the new directorship of Mr Justin Biggs, the Steel Band showed off their musical skills, with some spontaneous choreography thrown in.

The burgeoning String Ensemble, under the tutelage of Mr Conrad van Breda, showed off part of their new repertoire. The Jazz Band under Mr Blake Hellaby was up next, with some great performances from the soloists, and several new editions to the brass section.

Finally, the Concert Band (including girls from WGHS) wowed the audience with some of the new pieces they have been working on. The WBJS boys later joined in to form a combined band. The boys and girls performed magnificently under the leadership of Mr Catzavelos, with two items conducted by Siya Sineke and one by Gareth Randall.

Congratulations to all of the performers, and sincere thanks to the band leaders for all of the work that they put in.
