Open Mic with Tommy Bedford, Tuesday 20 June 2017

Wynberg Old Boys' Union: Open Microphone with Tommy Bedford

Tuesday 20 June 2017: We welcome Tommy Bedford to the next in the popular Old Boys’ Open Microphone series. This will be an encore appearance for Tommy who delivered a magnificent off-the-record conversation to an enthralled audience at the Bill Bowden Pavilion in November 2015.

For those keen on a second helping, and for those who missed out last time, this is a rare opportunity to meet a rugby legend and to hear the former Springbok captain and anti-apartheid campaigner express his views on the modern game in England, and his opinions on current political issues. Tommy will be egged on by MC for the evening Keith Richardson – an evening not to be missed.

Folk from the 1970s will remember Tommy as the Natal rugby captain who played in a record number of games and as captaining the Springboks in 1969 and 1970. A brilliant player in the amateur game, Tommy was part of the movement to bring about a united South African rugby fraternity, and one of the few to meet with the banned ANC in 1987.

We expect a full house on the evening and must insist on advance EFT ticket sales to facilitate catering and avoid ‘no-shows’ on the night. A wholesome supper is included in the R100 entry fee.

Please email Carol Ramsay at the Old Boys’ Office at WBHS (cramsay@wbhs.org.za) to book your ticket.

Closing date for ticket sales: Monday, 19 June 2017.

Regret, no school-going students or U18s.
