Jason Bright Jason scored the highest mark in both Accounting and Economics, 95% and 91% respectively.

CAXTON PRIZE – Awarded for Outstanding Effort

Joshua Jack An outstanding hard worker, who improved by 28 grade positions during the course of the year

OLD BOYS’ AWARD – Awarded to the Top Pupil in Grade 12

Craig Botha who made the SA Schools Hockey team and captained the Wynberg First Team to success in winning the Western Province KO Trophy.

ROTARY GOOD FELLOWSHIP AWARD – To the pupil who has displayed outstanding ability during the year in promoting healthy goodwill and fair play among his fellows: Raythaan Addinall

A thoughtful and heavily involved young man; a pillar of strength in the school, Raythaan has always led by example in whichever activity he has been involved.  Whether captaining the first Cricket side, as a member of the Muslim Society committee, as a musician in the Steel Band and Choir, or as a top academic – he has contributed to all 4 pillars of the school.  His leadership by example and passionate determination to continue to raise standards has ensured that he will continue to have an influence in the school long after handing over the reins of head prefect.

FRIEDLANDER MEMORIAL AWARD – For diligence and service to the school

Awarded jointly to Christopher Arendse and Curtley Christian.

These 2 boys have worked tirelessly behind the scenes, often unnoticed, always willing to give up their time and have been involved in many community projects.  They were at all times reliable, punctual and committed and formed part of one of the best Service Committees we have had at Wynberg.

WADE BERTRAM AWARD – Awarded to a boy in matric who by means of his example, his caring and his leadership, has promoted an activity in the school which has enhanced the name and spirit of the school. Voted for by the matric body.

Hishaam Davids

Hishaam is a humble young man who is proud of his Wynberg heritage.  At school and in the community he embodies all the characteristics of a true Wynberg man. He constantly encourages his peers, pushing them to be better, aim higher and never to give up. Having served on a number of committees as well as playing First Team sport, he has fulfilled many of the criteria we look for in our young men.  He has won the respect of his peers and teachers and is a worthy recipient of the Wade Bertram Award.

CASPER CUP – Sportsman of the Year

Blues for cricket and rugby. Chosen for Western Province cricket and a wonderful athlete who is a sportsman in the true sense of the word.

WYNBERG OLD GIRLS’ CUP and BUNTY JOUBERT AWARD – Awarded for community service

Mwelwa Mambwe

Mwelwa is the Service Prefect this year.  He displays strong leadership qualities and has been involved in numerous community service projects.  He is an excellent role model and has been involved in service at a high level for several years.  He is committed to serving others less fortunate than himself.  A wonderful servant leader who is prepared to roll up his sleeves and get involved.

HONOURS AWARD – Awarded to the pupil or pupils for outstanding performances which have brought honour to the school

First Rugby XV

This team was consistently ranked between 7th and 15th in the country. They achieved the “Grand Slam” with the best win ratio in Wynberg’s history. Their style of play earned them respect and they brought much honour and recognition to the school.

WIEGMAN CUP – To the most outstanding Silver Badge Prefect

Kyle Robbertze (Culture Prefect)

Whether the task is big or small, Kyle is dependable and efficient. As culture flourishes at Wynberg there is never a quiet day let alone a week, for the Culture Prefect.  Organised and enthusiastic, Kyle has executed all his duties to an exceptionally high standard, been organised and thorough and has served as a great example to both his peers and the younger grades.
