Introducing McNaughty: Wynberg 175’s Charity Teddy Bear

Wynberg Boys' High School 175: The McNaughty Teddy Bear

Introducing McNaughty, the Wynberg 175 ‘Care Bear’: a wonderful initiative to raise funds for our night school CWESI (Constantia Wynberg Education Sharing Initiative) while supporting entrepreneurial ladies in Westlake.

The ladies manufacture the teddies in a church hall, using scraps from our Wynberg Tartan, each teddy is 100% unique in that each piece of tartan is cut differently and hand made with a personalised tag by each creator.

Will Carter of Staghorn, who made the Pipe Bands Kilts, donates all the cloth, stuffing and materials. The ladies who make them are paid R125, approximately R20 goes to purchasing the eyes, buttons and thread. The balance goes entirely to support the Christine Revel Children’s Home (an orphanage) and the Sarah Fox Home for terminally ill children.

That means that 100% of the proceeds are used for humanitarian causes. A rare thing indeed. Added to this is R50 that goes towards our own in-house night school CWESI. The folk who administer the Teddy Project are wholly voluntary and are local members of the world’s oldest order of Chivalry.

There are only another 174 of these WBHS teddies available (the school owns the first one).

Those interested in purchasing their own ‘McNaughty’, please let us know soonest. Cost R300, payment can be made to the school bursar. Orders can be placed through reception or email Jeanette (jmuller@wbhs.org.za).
