Wynberg Boys' High School Cricket Superskills: Participating SchoolsWynberg is pleased to welcome young cricket enthusiasts from 17 junior schools to our Jacques Kallis Oval on Friday 21 February to compete in our annual Cricket Superskills.

Starting at 13h00, these “all rounders” will test their bowling and fielding skills and show their prowess with the bat as they move around 5 tasks designed to test all aspects of their game.

With points awarded for all activities, the players not only get to exercise their skills in a fun-filled afternoon, but stand a chance to win great prizes from our sponsors. We wish them all a wonderful experience of competition, sportsmanship and learning.

JACQUES KALLIS BATTING ACCURACY

The batsman will attempt to hit the ball into 4 separate zones
He will receive 2 deliveries per zone.
The batsman will receive 8 balls in total
Batsman will be bowled a low full toss

POINTS SYSTEM
Each ball in general zone – 1 point
Ball between the two stumps – 2 points

FAF DU PLESSIS THROWING AND AGILITY

The field is marked with 4 separate collection areas with a ball at each cone
The fielder will run from the starting point and collect a ball at each cone.
Once he has picked up the ball he must throw at stumps and continue running  to the next cone
This must be done in 45 seconds so more than 4 balls may be thrown

POINTS SYSTEM
Direct Hit on Stumps  – 2 points
Within target area – 1 point

DALE STEYN BOWLING ACCURACY

Each bowler will bowl 6 balls
The ball must be bowled according to standard cricket regulation
An area of uncertainty is marked on each side of the wickets for extra scoring
The ball may only bounce once

POINTS SYSTEM
Direct hit at the stump – 2 points
Within area of uncertainty – 1 point
Ball pitched in the square on a length – 1 point

RICHARD LEVI POWER HITTING

The batsman is thrown 3 deliveries at a set pace – waist high full toss
The batsman must pull the ball in the marked V
The batsman scores individual and team points the further he hits

POINTS SYSTEM
0  to 20m – 1 point
20 to 30m – 2 points
30 to 40m – 3 points
40 to 50m – 4 points
50+m – 5 points

AB DE VILLIERS CATCHING

Ball is thrown under arm from the top of the bank
The ball must be landing in the square for it to be a fair throw (5m X 5m)
Fielder will receive 5 balls

POINTS SYSTEM
1 point per catch taken
