Monday 21 August – Founders’ Week: 2017, a year for many records! Twenty-one Wynberg cricketers will be representing Western Province at Cricket South Africa’s annual tournaments in December. With the U15’s winning the local knockout competition and the 1st XI winning the knockout competition for a record fourth time in a row as well as some scintillating all day form it is no surprise to see us with seven U19A players.

In an era of instant gratification, it is great to see boys giving up their time and applying the dedication required to be a successful cricketer. Cricket is a sport that isolates individuals and provides many setbacks so it is especially warming to see players such as Cedric Landers, who midway through the first term was playing 3rd team cricket, rising to prominence in our T20 campaign, to make the WP U19B side. For many players, this will be a first occasion to represent Western Province and for some who have made the B team before this is a chance to shine at the main event.

These boys deserve the credit and recognition they receive, many hours of hard work have not gone unnoticed and they fully deserve this opportunity.
All the best to the them for the 4th term and at their respective national weeks!
