Head of Drama : Mrs Krystle Kustanovich

Our drama department is active throughout the year. Every year, Wynberg Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools stage a major production, ranging from comedies and dramatic productions to musicals. We also participate in the annual Shakespeare Festival held at the Baxter, where our actors deliver The Bard’s work with a fresh interpretation. In the last two years, our script has been adapted by one of our own schoolboy actors.

Our inter-house play festival involves over a hundred boys each year, as directors, producers, actors, playwrights and sound crew. The quality of the plays in recent years show that the boys are increasingly willing to tackle some serious issues, such as identity and economic oppression, as well as comedies. The plays are required to have junior boys participate in acting, directing and producing to ensure that they are given opportunities to develop their dramatic interests.

Our Wynberg Boys Acting Association (WBAA) meets weekly to practice and perfect their acting and stage-craft, and regularly attend theatre events to broaden their exposure to the dramatic arts.

Boys are also encouraged to participate in Eisteddfods that are held throughout the year. Our students are trained and supported, and consistently walkaway with Diplomas, the highest award achievable at the Eisteddfod.
