Head of Culture: Mr Julian Taylor
In our ever-changing world, one of the most important qualities needed for success is creativity.
This is at the heart of our cultural pillar at Wynberg. We believe that creativity is not something intrinsic, but rather that it can be developed. Boys are able to take part in a variety of bands and choirs, including our steel drum bands, jazz band, concert band and pipe band. Every year, our boys direct and produce house plays, as well as staging a major production each year in conjunction with Wynberg Girls High. Our debating programme teaches boys how to defend and argue for a position, and our artists hold exhibitions to showcase their work.
In addition to the many societies that run throughout the year, we have launched our Wynberg CREATE programme, where boys are able to sign up for a short course in a variety of topics to teach them creative skills. These include calligraphy, biltong making, car maintenance, cooking, personal finance, photography, and many more. Our aim with this programme is to allow boys to explore other aspects of creativity, as well as teaching them valuable skills to use beyond school.
