The Constantia Wynberg Education Shared Initiative (CWESI), was the brainchild of Mrs Joan Williamson who sought to establish a centre of learning for adults wanting to either write Matric or improve upon their existing Matric results. She began on a small scale in Constantia in 1984 and in 1995 the school moved to Wynberg Boys’ High as part of a joint initiative.
Courses Offered:
CWESI presently offers ABET levels one to four Mondays to Wednesdays and a Computer Class on Wednesday evenings.
Lesson Times:
CWESI operates from 18:30 to 20:30, Monday to Friday during the WCED school terms.
General:
Our sixty seven Senior Certificate students finished writing their “old matric” late in June and their results are due this week! Potential SC students are required to register first with the WCED who will then refer them to their nearest night school. We await these referrals, but in the interim we have had numerous enquiries and are expecting at least eighty students this year. These students will write their finals in May and June 2012.
CWESI hopes to offer new courses this year, the first being Basic Business which will be run with the support of Toastmasters. CWESI is about to undertake a survey to determine what the 2011 needs are for adult education within a five kilometre radius of the school.
