Service at Wynberg Boys’ High School
is an integral pillar of the school, it is also a
very ‘mature’ pillar of the school as
one participates in academics, sport and/or culture
for their own gain, while service focuses solely on
others and your ability to put them before yourself,
this mere fact indicates that anyone who takes part
in service is a mature member of the Wynberg society.
Wynberg participates in two areas of service, the
first being school service whereby one gives up time
to better the school environment in whatever way he
is able to, the second is that of community service
whereby Wynberg Men go out into the community and
assist various organizations such as Habitat for Humanity.
For further information on the above topics please
see the respective links.
To mention a few of the current and ongoing projects
that we are currently participating:
- Habitat for Humanity – this is a program
that sees groups of boys going out (in grades/tutor
groups/houses) to disadvantaged communities and
building quality housing for disadvantaged families
in the community. The Grade 8’s take part
every year in this program and it always proves
to be a day filled with fun, fellowship and teamwork.
Ultimately this hard work pays off and one feels
a great sense of accomplishment.
- One on One – this event is held every year
at the Good Hope Centre and aims to create a fun
filled day for handicapped children. For the past
few years Wynberg has run the face-painting stall,
and every year it has been met with great success.
