Wynberg Boys’ High School offers short-term supportive counselling to any Wynberg boys in need.
Counselling is voluntary – the counsellor’s office is situated in a quiet corner of the school, next to the library. Boys may drop in to make an appointment. Alternatively, parents can contact the counsellor if they have any concerns about their son.
The school counsellor’s job is to meet with the boy to investigate and assess the concerns, and then offer a treatment plan. This may include referring the boy to a professional outside school, such as an educational psychologist, remedial teacher or therapist, or the counsellor may offer supportive counselling to the boy at school.
The school counsellor is a qualified Clinical Social Worker who has experience in working with adolescents.
