Selection Process for 2009

APPLICATIONS
Closing date for Grade 8 2009 applications  was 30th  March 2008.

INTERVIEWS
After a cup of tea  with senior staff at the Headmaster's Residence,  the boys will chat with the Headmaster while parents will have a chance to pose questions to senior staff.  The interview will take about 45 minutes.

All interviews will be conducted during the months of April and May. 

 Silverhurst
Interviews will all take place at Silverhurst (below the Headmaster's Residence) - click here for detailed directions.

All parents who have applied will be phoned by the Admisssions Secretary, Mrs van der Rheeder, who will liase with parents for a suitable time for their interview.  As far as possible, interviews will be with boys from the same Junior School.  The size of the groups will be about 7 - 8.

For parents who were not able to attend Open Day, tours of the school and the boarding house may be requested at any stage.

SELECTION
Selection will take place bearing the following in mind:

*    Admission Policy.

*   Information on the Application Form and letters written in support of admission by both parents and applicant himself.

*   Interview.

*   Confidential feedback from Junior Schools.

ACCEPTANCE OF POSITION AT WBHS
Letters advising outcome of interview will be sent out on Wednesday 25 June 2008.  This is the same date that SACS, Rondebosch and Westerford will be notifying their successful applicants.

Parents have until 8th August 2008 to take up the offer of a place at Wynberg.

An Excursion Fee of R1 000 must accompany the acceptance of a place.

This Excursion Fee will be placed in an account in the name of your son. This account may be used by your son for various excursions undertaken by him during his school career.

If the account runs into debit, parents will be requested to submit an additional amount, and any balance in the account may be claimed back when your son leaves the school.

An administrative fee of R150.00 will be subtracted if a learner withdraws after the Excursion Fee is paid, but before he is due to take up his place in the school.
