History pupils at the school were privileged to listen to Herr Frans-Josef Muller who gave them an address recently.
Forced to join the Hitler Youth (as were allG ermans) in the late 1930's, he took the drastic step of leaving the organisation at the age of 17 after reading a White Rose pamphlet. |

The White Rose was a student organisation opposed to Hitler. Herr Muller joined this organisation and together with a number of other students, was arrested and imprisoned. Other student leaders were executed. The story of the White Rose is told in a current film on circuit: Sophie Scholl - The Final Days.
The courage that this action took at the age of 17 in Nazi Germany defies belief. The message told to the school by this 82 year old man was one which will remain with all pupils who heard it for the rest of their lives.
