Goals:
The Art Department is a place where creativity is encouraged. In order to
encourage creativity in the Art Department, it is important to introduce the
students to new and interesting components of Art.
• To achieve such a goal, the students must explore the Art world through
more excursions that will help hone their artistic skills.
• In the past we have had Inter-house Art Competitions that have gained
little interest. It is vital that we encourage all students to participate
in future Art competitions. In order to recognize the learner’s talents the
artworks will be displayed in the corridors throughout the school.
• To provide proper recognition of the Art department more Art exhibitions
will be essential. This even means that joint participation with the Wynberg
Girls High School could widen the horizon of admirers and popularity.
The Art department provides a stable backbone to the Cultural pillar. The
art department encourages students to develop their creative skills and
provides a platform for all aspiring artists to showcase their talents. In
this sense, the Art room is seen as a haven for creative thought and
artistic intellect. In order to develop as an artist, it is important for
students to understand and experience the life that Art envisions.
The Art Department is skillfully handled with eloquence and enthusiasm by
Mrs Mandy Colman. Mrs Colman is passionate about art and willingly shares
her knowledge with all her students. All the grades have been taught the
fundamental basics that are particularly important in the development of
artistic skill. A strong foundation will lead to a strong, solid art career.
The future of the Art department will soar to new heights as it is important
that everyone is aware of the talent Wynberg has. Many of the pupils have
honed their skills and spent countless hours perfecting their artworks for
the utmost best. It is only fair that they are recognized for their hard
work and diligence.
2007 will be fantastic year for the Art department, as the futures Matrics
are proving to be very hardworking and talented. They have very big shoes to
full, as 2006 produced some of the best artists Wynberg has seen.
